For those who may be too young to remember the wildly popular era, the Care Bears were originally illustrations to be used for greeting cards. They then grew into entire toy franchise movies, merch, shows, etc. Their primary role was to spread kindness, love and positivity and each bear had a special ability to do so. They came through as a collective to shine their light and heal. The whole idea was to help children work through fear, negativity and various challenges. The Care Bears stood for emotional well-being and caring for others. Well, the people who were kids then are adults now…
WTF happened? *rhetorical question*
In my opinion people know better, they just refuse to do better. Some go along with whichever way the wind blows in fear of going against the grain and others find joy in negativity and suffering. Yikes. It’s a hard truth to swallow, but accepting this avoids the disappointment of expecting humanity from those who have little to none. There are people who can only feel better about themselves if they are stepping on someone else. There are people who are so unhappy the only thing that brings comfort is knowing they are not alone in their misery. A few are simply sinister and don’t need any special reason to be. As a naturally caring person, it was hard to accept that these are people I share a planet with. I believe denial prevents people from addressing and calling out this behavior and as a result it continues.
Empathy, kindness and positivity are being attacked not because they’re bad, but because they’re bad for business. You can’t care about someone’s feelings when you’re denying them healthcare services in the name of profit margins. You won’t want to put yourself in someone’s shoes when you’re making money driven business decision that could leave someone homeless and/or hungry. You can’t have compassion if your racism & division defines you. When you stop caring, you’re free from feeling guilty about the things you do so damn near nothing is off the table.
At this point, The United States of America might as well be The Land Without Feelings. Money over morals…actually money over everything. So many robotic humans lacking emotions and programmed to not give AF about anybody but themselves. Who knew the rise of AI would align with the decline of humanity?
I didn’t grow up watching this show and many others like it to be convinced that caring for one another is abnormal or wrong. I will continue to spread my light, create my art and speak positive words of affirmation. I will continue to be an example of treating people with kindness, having compassion and desiring a better world and healthier collective mindset.
I will also have no tolerance for anyone who displays heartless behavior in my presence. Lacking a moral compass results in a lack of my presence. I protect my peace and encourage everyone with a heart to do the same. Now is the time to call out hypocrisy, disrespect and the -isms. After speaking up for years in personal and professional settings I’ve noticed that people stutter, stammer, get confused and angry when trying to defend their BS. It’s hollow. The most ironic thing, in my experience, is noticing that the people who champion fear, negativity, and hate are often the most scared, insecure and sensitive. Go figure.
I can’t believe y’all let the Care Bears down. Good thing I didn’t.
